IPM
Five-year integrated management programme
The Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) is a five-year course that you join straight after Class 12. The first three years cover a broad base of mathematics, economics, humanities and business; the last two follow an MBA-style curriculum. Several IIMs run it, and many universities offer their own integrated BBA-MBA programmes.
After IPM, you can
How you get in
IPMAT (conducted by IIM Indore, with IIM Rohtak running its own version) or JIPMAT (conducted by NTA for IIM Bodh Gaya and IIM Jammu), followed by an interview at some institutes. The tests cover quantitative ability and verbal ability. Age limits and Class 10/12 mark cut-offs apply. Other universities admit through their own tests or CUET-UG.
At a glance
- You commit to a management career at 17 or 18; the exit option gives some flexibility.
- Final placements happen alongside the institute's MBA batch at most IIMs.
- Fees at IIMs are high; check each institute's fee and aid details.
- Integrated BBA-MBA programmes outside the IIMs vary widely in what they offer.
In numbers
Integrated M.B.A. row of the programme-wise table; it covers all five-year integrated management programmes, not only those named IPM. The rise from 2021-22 to 2022-23 may partly reflect more institutions responding. AISHE counts only institutions that responded to the survey; coverage varies by year, so part of any change can reflect reporting rather than real growth.
