Product Manager
Decides what to build and why, and helps the team ship it.
What you’d do
A product manager decides what a product will do and why, and works with engineering, design and business teams to build and launch it. Software product companies, startups, fintech and e-commerce firms hire them. A day involves talking to users, writing requirements, prioritising features, reviewing data and running team meetings.
- Talk to users and define problems
- Prioritise a roadmap
- Coordinate design, engineering and go-to-market
How you get in
Direct fresher product manager roles are few. Common routes are associate product manager (APM) programmes, moving in from analyst, engineering or business roles after a few years, or an MBA followed by campus hiring.
