How you get in
You choose the branch at counselling, after the entrance exam. The branch is offered at a few IITs and NITs (allotted through JoSAA) and at state and private colleges, filled through state CETs or university tests. Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics is required. Fewer colleges offer it than Mechanical, so seats are limited.
At a glance
- Employers are mostly manufacturers, plus logistics and consulting firms.
- Most core jobs are also open to Mechanical graduates, so competition is shared.
- Operations and supply-chain roles are common next steps, sometimes after an MBA.
