B.Sc major
A science degree centred on mathematics: calculus, real and complex analysis, algebra, linear algebra, differential equations, probability and numerical methods, often with Physics, Statistics or Computer Science as other subjects. It leads to analytics, finance, teaching, research and actuarial work.

How you get in
Class 12 in the science stream, usually with Mathematics (required) and Physics or Chemistry. Central universities (Delhi University, BHU and others) admit through CUET-UG scores in the relevant subjects; many state universities and their colleges admit on Class 12 merit or a state test. You usually choose the major — or a combination of two or three subjects — at admission.

- IIT JAM (Mathematics paper) and CUET-PG lead to M.Sc seats; an actuarial route starts with the IAI's entrance exam (ACET).
