Undergraduate design degree
A four-year design degree in an area such as product, communication, interaction (UX), fashion or textile design. It is studio-based: you learn by making, with a portfolio and projects at the centre. It is offered by IITs, the NIDs, NIFT and many universities.

How you get in
Design-aptitude entrance tests, usually followed by a studio test or interview: UCEED (IITs), NID DAT (NIDs), the NIFT entrance exam, and university or state tests. Class 12 in any stream is generally accepted.
