Handles cashless approvals and health-insurance claims between hospitals, insurers and TPAs.

What you’d do
When a patient uses health insurance, the hospital's insurance (TPA) desk asks the insurer or its third-party administrator (TPA) for cashless approval, sends the bills at discharge and follows up on the claim. The same role exists on the other side, at TPAs and insurers, checking those claims. The day is mostly document checks, portal entries and calls with patients and insurers.
- Raise pre-authorisation requests for cashless care
- Check policy coverage and patient documents
- Submit and track claim files
- Explain approvals and deductions to patients
How you get in
Freshers join a hospital's insurance or billing desk, or a TPA or insurer's claims team, usually as a trainee. Hospitals often train new staff on each insurer's process on the job.
