What you’d do
Once a tour is sold, the operations team makes it happen. A tour operations executive books hotels, coaches, cars and guides, prepares the day-wise schedule, and sorts out problems while travellers are on the road. Employers are tour operators, destination-management companies and travel agencies, including firms that handle inbound foreign tourists.
- Book hotels, vehicles and guides
- Prepare day-wise tour schedules
- Negotiate rates with suppliers
- Handle on-trip problems and changes
How you get in
Freshers join tour operators or destination-management companies as operations trainees, often after an internship. Knowledge of a region's routes and hotels, or a foreign language for inbound tourism, helps.
