What you’d do
A pharmacy owner runs a licensed chemist shop that sells medicines to the public. The owner is often the registered pharmacist on the counter, or employs one. A typical day is dispensing, ordering stock from distributors, checking expiry dates, billing and keeping the records that the drug licence requires.

How you get in
Register with the State Pharmacy Council and usually gain experience at an existing pharmacy first. Then arrange premises and capital, and apply for retail sale drug licences from the state drug controller. Opening a Jan Aushadhi Kendra under the government scheme is another route.
