What you’d do
A reservation and ticketing executive books air tickets, hotels and packages for customers and handles date changes, cancellations and refunds. Employers include travel agencies, online travel companies, airline call centres and corporate travel desks. Much of the work happens on a global distribution system (GDS) — the booking software airlines and agents share.
- Search fares and make bookings in a GDS
- Issue, reissue and refund tickets
- Answer customer calls and emails
- Keep booking records accurate
How you get in
Freshers usually complete a short GDS ticketing course and join a travel agency, online travel company or corporate travel desk as a trainee. Airline and travel call centres also recruit graduates with good spoken English.
