Also known as: IP Analyst · Patent Search Analyst
Searches and analyses patents and scientific literature for inventors, firms and law offices.
What you’d do

IP law firms, patent research firms and the IP teams of R&D companies hire them. The day is mostly reading, searching and writing reports.
- Run prior-art and patentability searches
- Read and summarise patents and papers
- Map patents in a technology area
- Support drafting and filing teams
How you get in
Freshers join IP research or law firms as analysts, usually tested on reading a patent and summarising it. Passing the Patent Agent Examination run by the Indian Patent Office allows registration as a patent agent later.
