Decides where and when a brand's ads should run across TV, print, digital and outdoor media.
What you’d do
A media planner works out where a brand places its advertising — which channels, programmes, websites or locations — to reach its audience within a budget. Most jobs are in media agencies, advertising agencies and the marketing teams of larger brands. A day involves audience data, spreadsheets, discussions with media sellers and tracking how campaigns are running.

- Build media plans within a budget
- Coordinate bookings with media sellers
- Track campaign delivery and report results
How you get in
Freshers usually join media agencies as trainees or media executives through campus placement or direct applications, and learn planning on live client accounts. Comfort with numbers and spreadsheets matters as much as interest in advertising.
