How you get in
Freshers often start at a soil-investigation firm or as site engineers on foundation-heavy projects, logging boreholes and supervising tests. Design roles at consultancies usually prefer an M.Tech in Geotechnical Engineering, with admission mainly through GATE. GATE scores also open public-sector posts that involve geotechnical work.
