What you’d do
Builds both the visible side of a web app (frontend) and the server, database and APIs behind it (backend), so a feature can be delivered end to end. The role is common in startups and small product teams, and also exists in IT services firms and GCCs. A day may move between a user-interface change, a database query and a deployment fix.

How you get in
Many start as frontend or backend developers and widen their scope; others join a startup that expects broad skills from day one. A couple of complete, deployed projects — with login, a database and an API — is the clearest proof at interviews. Campus placement into IT services is the most common first job.
