What you’d do
A freight forwarding executive organises how a client's goods move between countries — choosing sea or air routes, booking space, preparing documents and tracking cargo. Employers include freight forwarders, logistics companies and the shipping teams of exporters. The role may be on the operations side (bookings and tracking) or the sales side (finding clients and quoting rates).
- Book cargo space with shipping lines and airlines
- Prepare quotes and shipping documents
- Track shipments and update clients
- Coordinate with customs, transport and warehouses
How you get in
Freshers join forwarders in port and airport cities as operations or documentation trainees, or in sales-support roles. Knowledge of Incoterms and shipping documents from the degree or a short course helps.
