Backend Developer

What you’d do
A backend developer builds the server-side part of software: the APIs, databases and business logic that apps and websites run on. Employers include IT services firms, product companies, startups, banks and in-house tech teams. A typical day involves writing and reviewing code, fixing bugs, working with databases, and coordinating with frontend and testing teams.

How you get in
Most freshers join through campus or off-campus hiring as trainee or junior software engineers, usually after an online coding test and interviews. A small portfolio of projects on a public code profile helps candidates without campus placements.
